He probably freaking out, I see that's his first post. But yea, sold car, only thing that can be done is an engine swap. Cant believe its been 10 years.

Question is are our engine blocks cast iron or cast steel? I believe a lot of import blocks are cast steel which welds just fine

The V8s are made of aluminium. The I6 is cast iron.

Cast steel? Don’t believe I have ever seen or heard of any manufacturer using that as the main ingredient in an automotive engine before. Cast iron is used for strength, low cost, ease of manufacturing. If they have more in the budget the cast aluminum would be the obvious option. It’s strong, lightweight, and they can very the ingredients to adjust strength and balance costs.

A lot of import exhaust manifolds are cast steel so you can weld on them. I'm not sure if pertains to blocks

With the advancement of materials being used I wouldn't be surprised.

Edit: I did some searching and cast steel isn't used for engine blocks ever due to cost. Now pretty much every engine block is made out of aluminum.

Do you guys think its cause of a previous accident i had. Someone ran into me from the side back corner and damaged the hinges on my driver door and other things under the hood , is this a possible reason?

I doubt it was the accident, mine broke off and I had not been in an accident. I sold the car and the new owner put a new engine in
