Default Gs300 Alternator question

Hello CL member my alternator is bad and I was wondering if any one could help with few questions I have.

1.) Would an aftermarket alternator work as good as a OEM one from pepboys?
2.) I have searched online to find a step by step DIY on replacing the alternator with pictures could some help me find a link?

1) yes

2) remove battery cables, remove belt, jack car up, remove engine cover, locate alternator and unplug all the plugs you see (I think 2), unbolt hot wire coming from battery, look for the 2 bolts that hold the alternator on and remove them.

reverse process.

Pepboy is not the same as OEM, they sell replacement "aftermarket" parts. Only place to get OEM parts is from the dealership or authorized OEM dealer, sometimes on ebay also.

Depends, if they offer an outstanding warrant like lifetime them why not. I would price out the sponsor sewell and see what an OEM unit with the forum discount it, then compare. Some OEM item is not that much more than aftermarket so it might be worth it to spend the extra change.

Remove the PS pulley in order to slide the alternator out. You can use a jaw puller if it won't budge. You can read my post on the DIY section for alternator removal.

The power steering pully is on the drivers side over the ac? The water pump is over the alternator, and no need to take anything off, the alternator is wide open to take right off with no problem.

I have a 2 local shops that do nothing that rewind alternators and starters. And they can rewind them for more output power. And it's cheap, so I might would check around first as you could get a nicle upgrade in power output for a similar price. Pep boys is just gonna send it somewhere to get done the mark it up a little, you could just skip the middle man...
