only way to try using rubbing compound by hand, if you start to see the shine again then use a polisher and go to town, if nothing changes then there is probably no paint.

I know the pillars on my Toyota are covered with vinyl. I haven't checked the GS yet, might be vinyl too...

cost me nothing, left over stuff from when I wrapped my roof. I bought a huge sheet, 48 x 96 or something, I did a bunch of parts with it including the roof, interior console, pillars, rear lower bumper lip, front lower grill slants on the GS3. Also had some left over to do the pillars on my wifes car and front bumper lip on her CX-7 as well. Over all if you buy the bood stuff, 3M scottprint ones it is very easy to work with, and responds well with heat to curve around edges if need be, 94 primer from 3m also will make the bond that much stronger on edges if you need it.
I would say it took me about 1/2 and hour to do all the pillars on the GS3.

i never realized the pillars werent color matched since i have a 202 car and mine are black...

i wonder OP what it would look like if u matched the cars color to them
