ok ok... here's what i got...

my car had folding mirrors when i got it, but the shaft on one was broken as a prior owner had backed it up and snapped the shaft. the only mirror i could get my hands on was a green lexus/usdm one that was not power folding. after pulling the broken one off the car there was no looking back. i ended up only using the folding mechanism and brackets the motor that was mounted in, as the motor had way to many wires and i was not committed enough to try and figure out how to rewire the motor when i had one i knew worked. as i had everything in pieces i changed the outer housing and the bracket for the blue one off my car (rather than having to get the new bits repainted). either way im sure you could do the same thing with the USDM one's, though you may want to solder up the joints instead of being a cheater like myself.

right (the powered one)

left (the replaced one. also note only 3 wires to the motor. standard JDM)

behind the skin

the JDM plug (the two wire on top are for the power fold. Blue x1 silver stripe and green x2 silver stripes)

where i will solder one day

also im happy to take more photos if you wish.

For clarification the middle button is for the headlight washers.

I've already tried swapping the a jdm mirror to a USDM it is different. The JDM mirror triangle has a channel in which there is a pin form the motor that goes into that channel to hold it in position. The whole casing, the black thing behind the white square which holds the glass is also different, the closing motor and glass leveling motor are assembled together and are sealed in a waterproof housing. I've snapped it open in order to check out the inner workings. But I do not see how I could swap them over. Trust me I've tried.

For everyones knowledge. The best mirrors to get are from Taiwan as the cars are left hand drive and come with power folding standard. JDM mirrors are angled incorrectly for left hand drive and leave you a blind spot on the driver's side, but this depends how far back you sit.

Do you have an '06+ GS ?

How about the LS, I think they automatically fold-in every time you turn off the vehicle! I don't even like that as much. The best is how the 3rd-gen GS has them in them in that little fold-out compartment. Sooo siicckk.

Not sure why- But I LOVE power-folding mirrors. Probably b/c my old truck was SUPPOSED to be a 1st-gen Envoy, but I ended up buying a cleaner '00 Olds Bravada, and ONLY the GMC (Jimmy) "Envoy"- from 1999-2000 had the power-folds. Just a sweet feature.

Rather than just go through all the trouble- I'll just wait a few CARS from now, and have it as an OEM feature.

What do you mean by rear for light? rear defroster ?

I was confused, because another guy said, "Yeah the rear fogs"....??? I'm thinking he meant rear FOG LIGHTS!? ha

The OP stated that the middle switch was for the headlight washers.

There is such a thing as a rear fog light, generally European cars have them, basically you can turn it on and one filament lights up constantly so that in low visibility you are more easily seen by approaching cars. It's called a "fog light" even though it's located in the tail light.

upwards of $250 just for the mirrors. I used the harness from my usdm mirrors. I did all the wiring myself.

You did awesome work! This should definitely be sticky! :thumb up:

Very creative with SPDT relays!

So which wires did you retain for mirror adjustment? Was it easy matching it up?

Any left over wires??

the jdm mirror only has a total of seven wires. five for adjusting the mirror and two to fold in/out. with the jdm mirror I lost the memory function and auto tint.

the auto tint I can do without because I never liked it to begin with. the memory function would be nice to have again. I totally forgot about loosing the memory function. when I was putting everything back I set the memory and decided to use it and the mirrors went bananas.
I never had the defrost feature on mine so I don't miss it.
