Default Staggered IS350 rims question

Hi All,

Long time lurker.

I am looking at purchasing some used IS350 rims. I have read several posts about people running 8's on the front and 8.5's on the back, but I need to add another level of questioning.

The rims I'm looking at are 17x8.5 on the front and 18x9 on the rear. All of posts I have read seem to run 18's all around. Would this type of setup work (17's and 18's)? Would it look/ sit right on the car?

Thanks in advance. I appreciate the knowledge shared here.

Would look odd on a 4 door GS save it for the muscle cars of the 70s. 18" all around staggered.

I used to have 18X8.5 245/40 in the front and 18X9 275/35 in the rear.

If you drive long distance you really need to think about what ONE spare you're gonna keep in the trunk ? I was told that if you put a different sized tires on the rear i.e 245/40/18 and a 275/35/18 (even though they are within the accepted difference in overall diameter) you could burn up the rear differential. If that's the case with 17-18 tires if you flat on a roadtrip ... you're basically SCREWED.

I'll be putting a set of IS350 18X8.5 245/40 on all four corners after I redo my suspension bushings and get my Bilsteins.

Yeah, that is what I thought too in regards to the differential. Oh well, I will just keep looking. Thanks for the info.
