Hey guys,
I was just curious on some input with maintence items. For example front upper and lower control arms and lower ball joints. Did you guys wait until they went bad to replace them or did you just replace because you knew sooner or later they were going to fail. I was wondering because I just did the 90k on my 03 and I figured why not I had the extra $$ why not do them.
Also how many of you replace the waterpump when you do the t-belt I figured I might well do it I was in there anyways.

Most people change the lower ball joints as preventive maintenance. They are known to fail on our cars. Issues with upper ball joints are less likely to happen.

You might as well change the waterpump while you're in there. I know the dealership didn't do mine though. It's still running fine. On the I6, you can change the waterpump quite easily.

+2 on the WP. When I do my 90k service, I will NOT change the WP. It isn't leaking so I'm not going to mess with it. With the I6, the WP is indepented for the TB so you can easily change it if it were to leak later down the road. Not the case the the GS4. Makes sense to change while doing WP.

I haven't replaced my ball joints but that will be the first thing I do as far as major mechanical maintenance.
