Default Are GS300's underrated, feels more powerful than 227 HP

Since I owned my GS300 from February of this year , I can't help but notice how strong this car feels. I have other cars in my stable that I use for play, but this GS is pretty quick. My GS is used for business and to cruise in but several times I had to get around somebody or pull out ahead of traffic and the acceleration is spot on.

I searched on this site to see dyno readings but was very unsuccessful. You veteran owners of the GS, have any of you guys dynoed this car yet. I am bone stock besides lighter wheels. Very curious if this car is putting out a little more than what is shown from the factory.

I thought the same thing. I was very surprised to find out it only has 225 horsepower. I was thinking around 300 hp

Drive a 400 or 430 then come back with a review on how it compares to the 300

Gs300 has great gearing (3.9x) to help improve acceleration

My thoughts exactly! A GS300 feels every bit of the 225hp to me. Because the GS is a heavy car it really is not that quick at all in 6 cyl form.

Not underrated at all. Leaving my V8 Infiniti Q45, I def. felt the HP drop off.

I know the 300 and the 400 are night and day in the performance department, but this 300 is pretty quick. Especially for its size, it moves pretty decent. My buddies 227HP '01 Maxima couldn't keep up and his car is several hundred pounds lighter than my GS.

Just observing from what I have seen , still learning about this car.

I've read the RWHP on a 2JZ-GE in a Supra is around 197 HP, I imagine it would be in that ballpark for the GS3.

Any Maxima from 00-08 will eat the GS300/330 for lunch

yes, that's the main reason, the gearing helps a lot.

but at the same time, it's still nothing against the v8 brothers

the feeling between my GS300 and my wifes 300hp audi is night and day.

In my opinion the gs300 is a turd. Comfy turd, but a turd none the less.

I could've sworn the rear axle ratio was identical on the GS300 and GS430 models from '01-'05 ?
