Next up - Solux. Color balance is quite close to the Sylvania Ultras. Probably within 200K or so. To me this looks slightly warmish but it's not objectionable. And I'd prefer this one over all the others with regards to beam spread and overall lit area. Great balance of flood and reach.

Silverstar Ultras. I had this one more evenly lit, but as you can see, it's close to the Solux.

I think I'll have to reshoot the Solux chart picture. Get it more evenly lit. The HID shot - I'd have to get some more distance away from the light source, but it's still too "hot" of a light source for my liking. If they can knock down the extra blue with some additional coatings on the glass and make it pure white, no peaks in the spectrum, then we're talking. And if they manage the light throw and flood better, it would be an improvement.

I still mark the Solux as a WIN for the light management, throw and flood. Just highly impressive.

HID obviously is a WIN for raw light lumen output. Not surprised.

Price of the Silverstar Ultras - 50 bucks a pair.
Price of the Solux / Clearvision Supremes - 40 bucks a pair.
Price of the HID - don't know as I don't replace them!

Longevity of Silverstar Ultras - SHORT.
Longevity of Solux - same as stock halogen bulb. Forgot how many hundreds of hours.
Longevity of HID...don't know!

Very impressive write up. This will be consider next time for our hologen cars at home. Thank you.

From the look of the photos they are on warmer side. So by any chance you have a sun gun to do another comparison shoot? 35 watt mode of course.

Post technical data that proves your point with these bulbs. I know you said you forgot, but since you have, just post the data so interested users can compare. Thanks!! I already know how sucky the Silverstar and Ultra bulbs are. They are not even better than the cheaper version Xtravision.

Percy, are you going to test fit them in your GS and get inside/outside photos of the light output? I'd like to see this of the Solux if possible.

I would but I don't have a meter that shows lumens nor do I have an integrated sphere. A visual spectrum analyzer might prove to be a little too complicated for many people.

They have been installed, but no time yet to take any type of pics with them. Just been too busy with assignments!

I used to have HIR's, loved em! I used 9005's in my 9006 sockets for a bit brighter yet, but when one failed, the other failed within 8 hours! And I was left with NO low beams.... So run the correct bulbs or keep spares handy.... REAL handy!

Might look at these bulbs and see, I am looking for anything for better lighting for my wife. I have an HID kit now, but most HID kits suck.

Would love to see these bulbs compared to the HIR's. But they are upwards $20-$30 each bulb. Not cheap at all.

I just purchased Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H11 for my IS250 from Autozone and the bulb is marked with an OSRAM sticker.

Plus the bulb is nowhere blue like shown in this picture. It is very clear with a very very light blue coating on the top 3 mm of the glass. Also, the light is quite on the yellower side than the blue/white.

Continuous improvement at work I guess.
