Default carbon fiber wrap question

so i going to wrap the interior wood in carbon fiber and was thinking about putting a clearcoat over it to make it look shinny and like a higher end wrap. has anyone done this or have any input to know if this would work, be funtional and look good? thanks in advance for any info.

clear coat? Are you talking about real carbon fiber or that carbon vinyl? if real carbon its laid with resin to get the shine. But if you're talking about carbon vinyl I dont think that would be a good idea to clear coat on top.

Its not gonna give you the effect you're thinking of. As far as I know I've never heard of anyone putting clear coat on top of vinyl. My suggestion go to a shop who deals with real carbon fiber, maybe someone who makes sound systems and have them wrap the parts in real carbon and resin to get the real effect.

i am going to a shop that installs this product, it isnt like a vinyl sticker but more like a carbon fiber cloth. it is alot thicker than a vinyl sticker but not quite as think as a layer of real carbon fiber. this is similar to what i am talking about: http://destronsgarage.com/gallery#NEXT and this is who is doing it for me

you can do it yourself, and it is vinyl, it just has a texture on it. It is not a carbon fiber cloth, dont let the shop up sale you and charge you for install saying it is super hard because it is not that bad. Time, patience, hair dryer, and a sharp exacto knife is all you need. I have done my roof, pillars, rear lower lip of the buper, interior consol, and much more to other cars. small areas are easy , you can do it yourself. Also they are not all created equal, use the best and you will save yourself the headach, 3m scottprint or the 3m 1080 is the best and will make working curved surface easier.

Yeah the bmw guys have been using this since 2007 on their e90's. I used the same 3m vinyl on mine. I cheaped out and tried to do the ebay vinyl and I have to say its easier to use the 3m stuff and its GREAT to work with.

If you throw/spray clearcoat on top of any sticker or vinyl based application you're asking for it to bubble or peel immediately.

If you're going with 3M Di-Noc wrap, I recommend you do not clear coat it. It will not look good. 3M did make a glossy Di-Noc wrap at one point. I am not sure you will be able to find it, as it was a limited edition (I believe).

Looks like he knows what he's doing!

$125 seems like a good price.
