I had two ISs and switched over. glad i did...dont get me wrong, ISs are fun to drive. do it! hahaah

Get an 03-05 GS430 if you plan to make the switch.

Its whatever you prefer man, ive had both and i prefer my IS since its my only vehicle, the IS is much sportier to drive and the GS is more old man-ish to drive LOL I got REALLY bored with the GS after a while felt like a slow tank. If i were to go back into a GS it would have to be a 3GS preferably either a 430 or 460.

Also the IS is a new/current design, i get asked if my car is brand new all the time, but the 2GS is looking old now since there have been 2 body changes since then..... It also lacks a lot of the features the IS does (smartkey,better nav,HID projectors,etc..) Then again we are comparing a $10K car (2GS) to a $20-$60K car (2IS)

Funny cause i havent seen any stock GS's that will outrun an IS-F yet, hell a stock GS couldnt outrun a 350.
I guess 12sec(IS-F) and 13sec(IS350) 1/4 mile is slow these days??

That's a really tough decision. If you plan on modding the GS, go that route. I think the GS looks amazing when they're modded.

The IS is really nice too. If I were you, I'd keep the IS and buy a GS as a second car. If you can only pick one, get a GS430. The GS300 is just too slow in my opinion.

 

Yeah, and talking about modding. If you were to put heavy mods into the 2GS IMHO it will be better than any modded IS (short of ISF) in performance. For example, the V8 in the 2nd gen GS LOVES LOVES LOVES forced induction. Even a correctly setup SC kit will produce 400whp! I havn't seen many SC'd IS350's that hit those numbers or higher. I for one will be installing my SRT SC kit next Spring. It was originally CL member, Mr. Johnson's old kit. He was putting out 406whp and around 370wtq WITHOUT headers; he could spin the damn tires at 50mph! Aside from all this a 2JZ swap would be even more ridiculous.

However, only if performance is your thing, and you are not ready for heavy mods then perhap a stock IS350 or lightly modded IS350 should be kept instead. GL man!

I have owned both, and by far the GS has gotten more attention. Even before I boosted it. You may think the GS is Grandma's sedan ...
