Looking at a 2000 GS400(pricing?)
I dont know where to post this but just need an idea on pricing. I really want to become a lexus owner.
I was just test driving this car and I fell in love with it.
So the Dealership just got this in(from auto auction?) and I have been looking for one of these cars for a while.
First off they were asking 14.5K list price and about a week later they listed the car at 12.5K...went in and they started the pricing at 16.5k...tried to offer 9-10k but they werent taking it.
I dont think i should be paying more that 9-10k for this car. What do you guys think?
Clean carfax, 1 owner, platinum edition, silver w/ grey interior, 100,5xx miles

I know, but its harder and harder to find a car like this in the NW. even the 430's are hard to find in a semi-low miles condition.
They hadnt even prepped this car for the lot yet, so i got the first test drive since they got it.

Funny, I actually emailed them about that car a while back before they had the price up. It is very tough to find a nice low mile gs400 around here. Can't believe they tried to start you at 16.5 though lol.

thanks for the input guys. I think I will wait a month on this car and see if they will go down later. Just so hard to find something this nice around here. Once they finish detailing the car they will put up more pictures.

Ok.. This car's market value is about $8800 but its a low mileage Platinum Edition which is a rare model and also GS400's are very and i mean very hard to come by these days in good condition.. The NADA Value on this car is $12350 and they can get this because banks loan up to the NADA price, so they're not ripping or gouging anyone. This car was $52,000 new. Even at $12K this car is a steal since most of GS go over 300K miles.
Last year, one of my friends pick up a 2000 Platinum edition he paid almost NADA or about 3K over market value because it had low mileage rare Black/Blk Platnium GS400. Its worth it.. Remember, these market values from Kelly and Edmunds is an Average, some people pay alot more and some pay lower it depends on the condition of the car and who owned it..
My advice to you, if this is a really well kepted and clean car. I say you should offer them $10,500 max and not a penny more.. IF they're smart they sell it to you if not walk away because this offer this pretty fair (Middle ground between market value and NADA Retail)
If you have all your funds, write them a check for $10,500 in front of them and just let it sit there.. Let them ponder over it.. Trust me no body is going to give them $11 or $12k unless their car had like 50K miles..
Good luck to you..
