I've heard others report that there was a noticeable compromise in the acceleration department when upgrading to these wheels from the stock 17's... I'm hoping it's not too noticeable. I committed to these wheels before I found out how heavy they are.

I intend to give my full impressions within the next few weeks once I've found tires and had a chance to mount.

Here is the latest update. The wheels I bought were from a 2005 745i. I notice that the centercaps are 3-piece

a.) plastic backing plate
b.) metal plate with BMW decal
c.) plastic ring that sandwiches a and b above

I was thinking about simply discarding the metal plate and spray painting a and c silver to match the wheel.

For those wondering why I can't just spray the whole cap as is, well, it's because the metal plate is actually imprinted with the BMW symbol (ie the BMW symbol is actually raised).

I plan on keeping the tire sizes and trying to run stock alignment settings. (Will probably be able to save the tires if I get the toe within spec.) Will be pretty aggressive with the tire sizes so, i'm going to totally remove the front rear fender lips. (will trim them instead or rolling) Car is daily and will only be dropped on DF's and new replacement struts/shocks.

I'll post pics when I get everything dialed in.

Our fender clearance will be very close. Your rims will stick out 2mm further than mine in the front and 7mm further than mine in the rear.

I just ordered 245-35-19 for the front and still debating between 255-35 and 265-35 in the rear.

I'm thinking with the drop i'm going with i'll be ok w/o rubbing in the rear. i'm going with a 30 series tire in the rear and the tires run narrow. My 265/30 is comparable to most 255/30's in size.

I'm at about 11 inches in width the rear tire/wheel. Spacer accounts for .75 inches in width and the rear fender lip is around 3-4 inches. The front, a total trim of the fender lip should clear w/o issue.

I'll remove most if not all the fender lip by cutting it out in the rear, possibly slight pull if required. Throwing some camber at it will help some as well. I've really gone through as many threads on wheel set ups that I could find and most with the offsets I'm running were .5 to an inch wider than me in wheel width. They also were a lot lower.

Well, I ended up buying the following Continental ContiSportContact 3 tires (pulled off a 2010 M3):

front: 245-35-19
rear: 265-35-19

I'm anticipating a bit of fender massaging in my future :-)

The 35 in the rear is going tot be a tight fit. Are you running adapters?

I am going to somehow try to squeeze the 265-35 on there. Wish me luck, lol...

I just got my wheels back from the machine shop on Friday. Rather than use flat steel inserts and Lexus OEM lugnuts, we decided to user conical taper inserts and conical taper lugnuts. The hubcentric rings measuring 72.6mm OD to 60.1mm ID arrived as well.



Now I'm trying to decide which centercaps to use:

a.) OEM BMW Caps - I think these look great actually. Everyone I talk to scoffs at the idea of using BMW caps on a Lexus car, lol. I cannot understand why people get emotional over this

b.) Gloss Black Caps - I was considering doing this with black lugnuts. I have a white car so it may look good.

c.) Silver Caps - This seems to be the logical choice but I think it can look a little bland.

What do you guys think?

Figured I would update this.
Finally got the wheels fitted. I've got some poke on the rear due to the tire size/ alignment/ ride height.
I flattened the front fender lip and trimmed the rear fender lip. Motorsports tech adapters worked great. Make sure if your running adapters to get them hub and wheel centric.

no need to buy new center caps....just use the stock centercaps and flip them...

I have a set of these with 215 35 and 235 35 waiting to go on after fender work, anyone knows if the degree of camber in this pic is stock?
