Maybe a bigger engine in next GS?
I know we all speculate on what the new GS sedan's will look like and be powered by, but in Oct. issue of Automobile (The Speed Issue) on page 26 Toyota states it wants to crank up it's performance image to tie in with its Formula 1 race program.
The company is preparing a sport edition of the LS430 due out next summer (The LS500) that will be powered by a "New" 360-hp, 5.0 liter V-8. It will out-engine a Mercedes S500 and a BMW 745i, on paper at least.
It only makes sense to put that engine in the GS and we can only hope they make a special edition of the GS that is tuned to atleast 450hp to take on the M5, AMG, RS6, and S-type R.
What do you guys think? I fill Toyota is doing the same thing it did in 1998 when the second gen. GS came out. It took luxury sport sedan to another level.

I can not imagine that they will offer a performance version of the LS next year because where will they take the engine from ? I know about a new 5.5l V8 that should be out in MY 2005 or 2006 when Lexus is going to offer the next generation of the LS. The next generation will offer a new 4.5 l V8 and the aforementionned 5.5l V8. Nevertheless I would really appreciate it if they would offer a performance version of the LS and GS already next year.

Too bad Toyota F1 was not named after their luxury division, Lexus. It would have been nice to see Lexus F1 compete against the BMW, Mercedes, and Jaguar.
