Which Direction to go?
My GS has 216k miles on it. I need to put some money into it. I don't plan on selling it any time soon. The motor runs strong, shifts great. My problems are that the car is leaking oil, from multiple places. I suspect the oil pan, and some place else on the front, The compressor took a dump about three months ago, the power steering pump is whining, when I press the brakes the brake light comes on then go out ( I know that's just brake fluid) the only check engine light I am getting is P0171 Bank 1 Lean. This code, goes out in the winter time, and I was suspecting this could be a bad fuel filter/sending unit with the amount of miles on the engine. I know it's going to be expensive. We're not really worried about that. Should I tackle the individual problems, or should I get a whole new motor? Thanks, all inputs welcome.

If you can do the work yourself it probably won't be that much to fix that stuff. The oil leaking from the front could be the front main seal or the cam seals. You should be due for another timing belt coming up soon, all of those seals should have been changed with the last belt but if not that could be your problem.

It's probably leaking down behind the belt covers onto the front oil pan area and rolling down under the motor making it seem that the pan is leaking. Pull your top timing cover and look down in there with a flashlight and see what you can see.. The VVTI gear is likely to be leaking was well if it is original.
I would do a leakdown test on the engine, and if all is well with that and body is in good shape still then it's worth doing timing belt, vvti gear, cam/crank seals, timing tensioner, acc tensioner, water pump and the few other various tune up parts and it should roll another 100k..
If your leakdown show less than perfect I may reassess what possible options to pursue..

We've only had the car for two years, and the timing belt and water pump was done at 200k miles. It seems the amount of money I need to throw at it is way more compared to getting a motor.

The water pump and timing belt may have been done but the cam seals and front main seal should have been done at the same time, depending on who you had do the timing belt they may not have been thorough and replaced them while it was apart. Probably just want to look inside and see if there is oil around the front of the motor behind the covers.
