It's rare if its discontinued. There are only a fixed number of the above originals floating around the market. Just because the majority of the members on this board hoard these discontinued parts doesn't make then any less "rare" when considering the general population of 2GS drivers. You are making an assumption based on a small and skewed clublexus population.
Well if that's the case, this thread should be called "Post your discontinued parts"
Rare means uncommon. Unusual parts to see on a car. When hundreds of members on ClubLex have a TTE lip, or TRD sways, etc. It's not rare.
Show me another HKS Valcon cam and Valtai controller. You might find 1 or 2 in North America....that is rare.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that 300 2GS drivers on this site have either a TTE lip and/or UGO roof spoiler. And that is a GENEROUS figure.
Just in the United States, 25,000 2GS's have been sold from 1998-2005. That's 200,000 units actually driving on American streets throughout the production life of the 2GS.
Is being in the 0.0015% of ALL 2GS drivers rare enough for you?

Haha, getting a little bit on the offence hey?
You're right....compare apples to apples.
Out of the 200,000 units sold, how many cars are owned by people that are interested in modifying them?
With your logic, i guess BC coilovers would be rare, (since less than 5% of GS owners overall have BC coils, Vertex aero is rare, 2JZ-GTE VVTi swaps are rare, etc)

For me, discontinuation of a part is a big factor as to rarity. Discontinuation meets there is a finite number of those original parts in the market that only decrease in time through attrition.
If companies are still producing the part, then the supply in the market is ever increasing, reducing its rarity factor. All aftermarket parts are generally rare in comparison to OEM parts. But discontinued aftermarket parts are rarer than aftermarket parts still in production.
But I get your point, and I think we should stop splitting hairs. I call truce.
