Hahaha! My thoughts exactly! The more times a mechanic gets their hands on a car, the worse the car gets.

Huffing and puffing at the wrong guy. Didn't you even read the thread?? Also for everyone else, he stated that he is getting a used engine with 85k on it, so no need for updates unless he is telling us how it runs afterwards.

Final update! I got the car back today. The replacement engine has ~39k less miles than my original. They installed a new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, engine mounts, a couple pulleys, a couple gaskets, and tensioners. They also thoroughly cleaned my engine bay - everything looks brand new under the hood now, pretty impressive.

Took the car for a spin - same power and performance and sound as before, no check engine lights or other concerns that I could discern on the short trip. It's warranted for 12k miles/12 months parts & labor. I'll probably trade it in before that runs out anyway. I'll have to watch for any fluid leaks on the garage floor now.

I survived in a Camry for 1 day less than 4 weeks and am glad to have my car back at last. The first time stepping on the accelerator brought quite the smile to my face. My car is 10 years old and has better feeling steering, brakes, engine, nicer looking interior, etc.

Time to close the book on this saga...thanks for all the advice and comments!

See above. 12mo/12k mile parts & labor. That should hold me over until trade-in time. Now I just need to find a different car that I like. (Cayenne Turbo, Grand Cherokee SRT-8, ML63 AMG, 4Runner, Infiniti G___x/M___x, MDX, junker and Ducati, .... ??)

Pics of the completed install and under-hood cleaning. The impending Wisconsin winter will destroy that scene no time, unfortunately.

Other than the PS fluid level, all looks to be good!
