95 2jz in a 98?
Hi,
I'm looking for some quick help. I have the change to get a 95 2jz for a decent price. I need something ASAP since the motor in my 2GS went.
I'm trying to find out if its plausible to put this motor into my 98 GS300. If so what issues will I be looking at if any.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Shipping I'd have to look into and get back to you. Would it be going to a business address or residential? Business addresses are cheaper for LTL ground shipments.
What's the issue with your motor, something in the bottom end? The motor I have is bare keep in mind, just Block and Complete head, the headgasket is still sealed. Head has cams, gears, valves, covers all intact. You would need to transfer everything from your motor to it, accessories, pulleys, harness, intake, tb, etc.. I can do another compression check as well, if you have a block/head issue it's good to go, if you have other problems with the engine you may be better off getting a complete longblock from a salvage yard. I do have some other GE parts around that I can send with it, if there is something specific you need I may still have.
I can try to take some pics later today.

All 1JZ/2JZ heads will physically mount on top of any other block. But the NON-VVTI engine blocks do not have the provision from the factory for the oil feed to the VVTI head, and have oil pressure senders in different places as well. While it can be done you need to some additional things to make it work.
The VVTI-GTE and NON-VVTI-GTE have the same internals, as the VVTI-GE and NON-VVTI-GE have the same internals.
Basically it's not really worth messing with any NON-VVTI-1stGEN-GE's since you can get a GTE so cheap, heck I've seen NON-VVTI-GTE's sell complete for like $1200 or so.
This is true only comparing the VVTI-GE to the NON-VVTI-GTE...

Yea thanks for the info @99GS3. Well I can get the 95 2jzge for $300 from a family friend, so I was trying to see if it would be a waste of money to buy the motor.
