Default 1998 gs300 has vibration at low speeds

Hi I am new to the site and I would like to say kudos on a well put together and organized site of Lexus information. I am sorry if this is a thread that's already been answered, but I'm kind of in a hurry being as though I'm suppose to by the car tomorrow. It is a 1998 Lexus Gs300 with 233k miles on it. It was a commuter between Virginia and Washington DC. It has the vsc light on on the dash. It has a tiny squeal I believe is coming from the belts or pulleys. Also idle is fine, but when placed in gear, it has a vibration coming from the right of the car towards the front. Even at 30 mph you can still feel it. It has a slight oil leak right under the engine cover. Needs a driver side front turn signal and fog light. He's asking 2500 for it. My 1st question is it worth 2500. 2nd question is the vibration caused by a faulty catalytic converter. This is what he said a mechanic told him. 3rd is any of the problems listed hard to do yourself. Thanks for all who respond, and once again, this is an awesome site!!! Keep up the good work.

+1 even though 2,500 is dirt cheap, by the time you fix all that stuff you'll probably be at like 5k and probably still wont fix it. Just save your money and buy a better car.

The VSC light on worries me the most. You can be looking at having to buy a master cylinder which could run $600+ depending on if you get new or used. You're asso looking at doing more things to that vehicle if you decided to buy it because of the problems it already has. I'd pass on it unless you have another 1500-2k to spend fixing that thing up.

Thanx to all who responded. I ended up passing in it and getting a 1999 Lexus Gs300 with 147k miles on it for 3900. Interior and exterior is great, and it came with 20 inch black with machined lip. Only problem was a cracked windshield and a P0430 code. I will be posting pics very soon.
