winshield weird road rash
im not exactly sure if i would call it road rash but when light hits my winshield i cannot see because of all the little dots on my windshield. its millions and millions of little dots that i cannot see through when the sun or headlights hit it. what can/should i do in order to fix this? Should i replace it? or can i get it polished and problem solved? any help would be appreciated.

See if you can determine if it's stuff on the glass, or a lot of very small chips in the glass.
Run your fingernails on the glass (under a plastic bag, or using a latex glove will help you feel the imperfections). See if it feels like stuff poking up, or chips.
If it's just stuff on the glass, you can try to clean it off. Some people say use 00 steel wool to cleanup glass.
I would try something a softer first. Claybar(with appropriate lube) or Mr.clean magic eraser work (with rubbing alcohol) work well. This will take everything off the glass so you should reseal it when done with rainx or other water repellent.
If it's microchips/pits/sandblasting in the glass, there's not much you can do that will be greatly successful. You can try polish/waxing it, but i don't think that will help with the light refractions, as the polish filling the chips aren't the same as glass . Also, any polishing you do will streak and rainbow once you use your wipers.
If the alternative is replacing your windshield, you have nothing to lose by trying polishing it first though.

I have had this on my WRX and my Durango. Both times it was due to sand/dust storms encountered while driving between Nor and So Cal. The WRX was really bad, I had to replace the windshield to fix it.

In certain parts of the country, the "sandblast effect" is much more pronounced, but it can happen in a decade or less even in places where sand/ grit and wind isn't excessive. High speed interstate driving is also a big factor.
In the past, I've detailed many cars that had it very bad like that.

its $100 deductible to get it replaced so i'm gonna end up replacing it. i just wanted to see if a polish would possibly fix it because there's no deductible on a polish, but thanks for all the help
