I think with all the heat buildup in the engine compartment you'd have all kinds of issues, ie like bubbling, peeling, fading. IMO, I wouldn't do it. But if you're brave and want to test it out for sure, you can bite the bullet and be the first to do it and see what really happens.

Agreed. You would get massive shirking, warping, peeling, and cracking from the heat of the engine bay.
You can get it "dipped" or hydrographics. I got mine done in carbon fiber and looks good w no heat issues. I also did my wood pieces, center console, vents, etc in black wood

anyone know hot hot the engine actually runs..... the vinyl says it is good up to 250 degrees...... might just give it a shot if it bubbles i can just peel it off.... shouldnt hurt the pocket too much... wanted to do the chrome band around the car in carbon vinyl so ill just order a lil more make a project out of it.... i'll let you know how it goes once its done.....

I thought about this to but decided not to do it at this time.. Make sure to use "primer 34" for the edges and curves so it doesn't peel up.. Give it a try..
Very nice indeed, but I'm sure that costs a pretty penny.
for the amount of what people pay for the sport design black wood, i got my interior pieces done...including my vents, guage cluster, around the climate control, etc.
