Angry Debadgers Beware!

I finally got around to taking off the LEXUS and GS 300 badges today and after spending about an hour rubbing off the adhesive I'm starting to think that the lines on top of where the badges were is cracked paint and rust... My GS is going on 12 years old so i guess 12 years of dirt and crap ate through the paint. I certainly hope I'm wrong since I broke the badges while taking them off.

Anyone who has done this before and encountered the same issue please give feedback!!!

Seems like you did it wrong taking them off in the first place to be honest..

Most of us use a blow drier or heat gun to heat them up and loosen the adhesive, then we take fishing line or even dental floss and use that to take off the badges.

Yeah I did the whole blow dryer/ dental floss routine and used GooGone to remove the glue...

I have a feeling your trunk has been poorly repainted at one point. If it's the original paint, there is no reason you should have rust or cracking in those spots.

I had no paint problems when I took off my badges.

My trunk is the same as yours, basically I have to Repaint my trunk. I heated my trunk to wear some white foamy stuff was oozing out the badges and now I have primered lines where the Lexus and gs300 were.

^ Doesn't seem too bad. Try wet sanding if there's clear coat left.

I used a heat gun and then a eraser wheel to finish off the glue but came out good for me.

The best result is to heat up the adhesive and remove it go go gone. But i didn't even need to use the heat gun, just go go gone and it all came out.

i thought about removing my badges but i was worried that the paint would have faded around the emblems. took the stickers off the side of my F150 & found that sometimes at certain angles, i can still see the design. even after my brother buffed the hell out of the truck for me.
