Default High speed fun...

Not a Lexus but thought I would reminisce.
Rented a brand new 2000 911 Carrera (1200k/m) while in Berlin a year ago.
Saw 284km/h, roughly 174mph, while on a stretch of autobahn. What a rush!!! And it was legal : )

mrwolf, are the euro 911s more powerful than the US version? 300hp going 174mph seems optimistic. I take it you were topped out. BTW, I thought I read that the RECOMMENDED top speed on the autobahn was 81mph, obviously some go a might bit faster

Default Autobahn speed

AS with BMW's M3 the German 911 does have a little more power. As for how much I don't know.
Yeah it was topped out but we consistently saw 281-284km/h.
I thought there was no speed limit at all, but in reality most of the autobahn is limited. The stretches of road we used had no spped limit.....and were any where from 2 miles to 10 miles long! What's funny is when we slowed down to around 100mph we would get passed by everybody :Volvos with the family and Mercedes w/old old people driving!

Default CAREFUL!!!

I hate to be the killjoy of the bunch, but I just need to get this out.

As some of you might have noticed, I've been away from the board for a week or so. On the 17th of February, my mother was killed in a car accident. As far as we know, no other car was involved, she just, for some unknown reason, ran off the road and hit a tree. Unfortunately she was driving a crappy little Subaru Justy, which offered her very little protection.

This has been the most devastating time of my life, and I'm trying to take one day at a time to get my life back. what I'm trying to say is this. When you lose someone you love, so tragically, and without warning, it does something to you that changes everything about your life. Nothing seems the same to me anymore, and I don't know if I'll ever be the same again. So please, everytime you get in that car, and turn on the engine, remember that there are people that love you, and would be crushed if anything were to happen to you. Drive safely!

Hey, sorry to hear about your mother. My sympathy's to you and your family. I too have lost friends and families to car accidents. The best thing to do is to surround yourself with people who love you and you'll be o.k. Again, sorry to hear about it.

geez... i'm really sorry lex lady! i wish i could do something, i think Dazz's suggestion is really good, surround yourself with people that love you your husband, your son, everyone.

also keep in mind that you mother didn't have to suffer from cancer or a slow death, and now she is with God and she has never been hapier, i'm sure she is watching down on you.

Sorry to hear your tragic news LexLady. I lost my father unexpectedly in '95 and it seems like yesterday.

Live every day as if it were your last. As unfair as life seems at times, I'm sure your mother is happy and would want you to be as well. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

The fastest I have gone in the GS300 was 242 km/h.
Here is a pic at 240.
