120mph, That's what I hit while "teaching" a Nissan 300zx not to play with the big L. Since most Lexus never see over 100mph just curious as to how fast our readership cares to fly. I will be buying new tires soon and going after the reported 156mph (non governed) on my 96 LS400.

Where do you plan to do this "super zooming?" good luck, i'd suggest some springs and shocks first though, you want stability at that high touring speed!

Texas is BIG. Lots of Autobahn quality interstate. I have a few favorite places to run. I will make a checkout pass just before to make sure no road condition or police enforcement will force "evasive manuvering". And of course do it when traffic is virtually nil. After check out I will circle back and will probably run flat out for apx 2 miles. Whatever it gets to will be my new TS#. I went from 80 to 120 in about 1/2 mile last night. I will probably approach at about 100 and drop the hammer for the run.

Used to hit 140 in my SC300 5 speed (93, stock) on some remote state highways. Since they ran through soybean country you could see not only miles down the road but any potential encroachments from farm vehicles (i.e., lots of runoff if you don't mind involuntary harvesting and no worries about endangering the rest of the populace). Got a little light at that speed plus roads not the smoothest. But that big 6 was just humming!!!! Haven't done more than 100 in the GS since I don't get down to that part of the state anymore and don't have anything like clear space like that near home. May have to make special trip!!

I toped the big bad lexi at 160mph while racing a mercedes 500sl you should have seen his face when I passed him he was in shock I loved it thats another car under the lexi's belt :P

Yes, I have hit 135mph + a number of times in Tenn., GA, and Florida. The last time was on a drive to Nashville and it had been a while. After 22k miles it is as tight at 140mph as it was the first time nearly 20,000 miles ago. That was interesting because it was right next to a brand spanking new M5 on 1-75 near Naples. We both had our temp plates on! I think he was a little bummed since he could have bought two GS400's for the price of one M5. I hit 100mph at least twice each week - I'm not kidding.

biggie27, which year and model Lexus are you driving? The 90-94 V8s top out at 150, the 95-97 LS400s are the last ungoverned and can supposably hit 156 (I guess a little faster going downhill with a tailwind) All the newer cars are limited to 150. I think our speedos are very accurate.

I did it with a 99 gs400 I know the mercedes does 155mph governed and I was passing him my speedo was at 160 mph when I asked the dealers they told me that the 98+ gs400 does 164mph stock

yeah the GS400 is electronically limited to 149mph, and the GS300 at 139mph.

I did 129 once. My tires almost blow and my stock brakes are crying.

I did 140 in my 98 GS4 down in Orange County California on the 55 N coming back from Newport Beach - it was around midnight on a weeknight... the car was as smooth as silk...and I had over 60k miles on the car at that time.

1st- you werent going 160.(unless youve overcome the limiter)

Don't really know why I even wasted my precious gas, but I hit 145 racing a Mazda Millenia on Interstate 4 in Tampa, Florida!!!!!!!!!!
