Bought my 2001 GS430 in 2004, lowered it a bit (made that l-tuned suspension thread), painted the calipers.
More than seven years and 120,000 miles later, I still LOVE my car.

I've been looking at newer IS350s, GS350s, LS460s, any of which I could buy today.
Then I go drive mine, and all I can think is, "Why on Earth would I part with this car?"

but why is the LS in that mix of "looking at" cars? It's a bit off the chart from the others and what you already have.... Man those seats are huuuge on the LS! For the GS's I like the mid range of the 430 over the 350 and even think the 460 feels a bit peakier. So if you're looking at just a platform change (2 to 3 G), you might want to stick with the motor you know and just fall in love with the new trans that comes with it... My $.02, but I did drive them all back to back (and even a 450h to boot) and bought an '06 GS430... Oh yeah, and you get the adjustable suspension thrown in. Don't listen to anyone, even me, just drive one and push the button and see for yourself....

I love the newer LS. I would put some cool wheels on it and stiffen it, lower a smidge, then drive it until it died.

I agree! The current LS is very nice...the ones I see while in Japan are always catching my eye...always!

But, I absolutely love my GS too!

I've an original owner and have had mine for 12 years. Can't find a good reason to get rid of it, but I try hard every once in a while.
