Default Rear cupholder completely stuck closed

Had a friend playing around with the rear cupholder in the armrest last night like a little kid, and it ended up being stuck open. I took it out by sliding the tabs on the assembly, but found nothing. I then made it worse by closing it completely with my finger on the bottom part that holds the cups, breaking it, then having it close in. Now its completely stuck closed, and I can't do anything to open it (lift and slide out, using a butter knife as a lever, hitting it, etc).

What should I do? I can't even find replacement rear cupholder assemblies at Sewell or Armrests for sale on carpart. I don't want to leave it permanently broken.

I have the part numbers, but what color trim and year is your car?

I had to buy one from my dealer not too long ago

Look up:

72806-50010-A1 = Ivory Trim
72806-50010-B1 = Md. Charcoal Trim
72806-50010-C0 = Black Trim

I tried the charcoal PN at Sewell online and nothing came up. I have to same problem with mine with the rear cup holder stuck closed. Do you have a description to use in the search that would help find it?

I was in the same scenario not too long ago. The piece in the center of the cup holder came undone and I pushed up the bottom part of the cup holder and it would not come back out. I left it like this for months. Eventually I got around to fixing it.

Basically what I did was take out the whole arm rest, turn it upside down and presto. The cup holder poped out like a dream. I was able to fix the clip that came undone and now it works like new

Mine does this now and then, if I stab at it to get it to open, it almost always opens and is ok for a while. Not sure what is up.

I guess you could try to open with the armrest in varying different positions from horizontal to vertical.

You're better off calling the dealer to get it. That's what I ended up doing and had mine ordered
