Holy uneven tire wear
So I put my snow tires on my oem 17" gs wheels and took off my chrome oem 17's and OH EMM GEEEE.... all fours were un even beyond my mind. I will take pictures of the tires tonight but I may need a bit more then an alignment, I was almost thinking my ball joints could be going on my front end.
Both fronts had inner camber wear, one side worse off.
one of the rear tires middle was completely bald and one tire was normal
I found it pretty weird but anyway, would the inn=er camber wear be normal signs of ball joints going. I wont be able to get an alignment until the weekend to find out.

What you gotta do is throw those 17s in the trash. Then slam you car to the ground on coil-overs and install 19 or 20 inch wheels. Then you will have extremely good looks to go with your excessive tire wear. You're welcome. Call me the problem solver.

Tie rods, ball joints, stuts, camber- any of these could cause tire wear so would be better to get them all checked. Usually a good alignment shop would check all of these while doing alignment.

I have spoke with my long-term Lexus parts guy Neil Mayezaki from Stevens Creek Lexus and he says the culprit to the problem is the bushing. When the bushing wears out, the control arm cannot hold the wheel firmly; thus causing it to move in all sorts of directions such as toe-in and toe-out.
I am searching for these parts but doesn't seem like Daizen makes it anymore.
I am also suffering from this problem.
I've read online somewhere that Figs is trying to source some of these parts for-sale. we'll see.
GS tire wear issues
Oftentimes by 40-50,000 miles, you may begin to see accelerated tire wear, especially on the inside of the front tires.
Most shops immediately give a knee-jerk diagnosis of needing a camber correction kit, but this is oftentimes not necessary, especially if you have approximately negative 1.5 degrees of camber or less, and especially if your vehicle is not lowered more than 1.5-inches. (Please see our technical section for a more in-depth explanation of negative camber vs. toe settings and how they affect tire wear on Lexus vehicles). As mentioned in that article, the most likely cause of this tire wear is a bushing issue, specifically the bushing on the #2 front lower control arms. Over time, the rubber in these bushings goes soft, and causes havoc with the toe settings of the vehicle. Pretty soon the car is wandering and darting all over the road, especially at highway speeds, and you are getting only 6-8,000 miles on a pair of front tires. Simply said - whatever the actual problem may be, make sure you are addressing the correct problem in the correct way.

Sorry guys been a hectic week so I havent been able to take any pictures. I'm going to bring it in the shop hopefully this weekend to get an alignment and give you the culprit.
My car is a 98 GS400 all OEM suspension. I dont have a garage anymore so If i need to replace something, I want to do it all at once instead of mutiple miserable days wrenching the car in 20 degree weather.

the inner most part of the front tires only get excessive wear. I checked to see how many miles they've been up front...(20,000 mi)
It was time for brakes so I rotated them to the rear. The rear tires have minimal inner wear for 20k mi. compared to the fronts.
I've never had an alignment done in 11 years. Suspension obviously is all stock.
Is this acceptable wear on the inner front rubber for 20k mi? are these cars set up with this much camber from the factory?
It looks like the tires are still new except for the inner most tread.

if you have bad components, you can't accurately do an alignment. isn't center tire wear usually from over inflation? as someone said above, tie rods can also cause inside tire wear.
i have a lifetime alignment policy from Firestone. good for as long as i own the car & get it checked every 5-6k miles (every other oil change)..
