Default Got my gs4 yesterday...

Well I just bought my '98 Gs4 and I love it. It's completely stock. However, I need to get something to make it sound a little better since it sounds too quiet from the factory. I just want an axelback and need some suggestions to which sounds the best for about $500. I might want to delete the resinators if it's not mean enough. Not looking for anything obnoxious, but something meaner than stock. Thanks guys

I have that exhaust on my GS and I love it.. It's not loud at all inside the cabin, but sounds nice and completes the rear.

That's a nice sound, but I was looking for more of a deep growl. Any suggestions?

Honestly it has a deep tone to it. Only reason it rasps a bit is due to my heat shield rattling.

But if you're looking for really deep i'd have to say Tanabe Touring Medallion might be your best bet otherwise. Junction Produce Exhaust will run you close to $1k and so will 5Zigen. Those are the only other two I can think of that have a really deep tone to them, but as you said you're more in the $500 range.

Well first off that video is a gs300 and you have a gs400 v8 so It will not sound anything like that.

I had the top speed on my sc300 and it was decent 5/10 a step above china crap on ebay. It's well made china crap. You get what you pay for in sound and looks, I paid 220 for my axel backs. It has a nice tone but those 2jz will sound good with almost anything. On the gs400 it sounds very muffled and cheap. I would go for the borla axel back or just do a resonator delete.

If you can find some L-Tuned or RMM, I think they might be what you're looking for.

I believe my video is in the sticky.

Bro . .

I took my GS400 in to check the muffler because it seems there was a couple holes along the the exhaust piping... car was making funny sound once I got on the gas and when I would start it up in the morning the sound was awful.

They cut the original piping right off. While the piping was off they started the car back up... I mean this when I say this... the car started up and scared the **** out of me and startled everyone in the shop. People came in from outside the car sounded like a big block V8... my god the engine is toned sound is tone down SO MUCH from factory. I really wanted to leave it like that so bad but that wasn't the job I went there to do.

There was a guy outside with a V8 chvey truck... the GS400 sounded so brutal that the chevy guy came in looked around and was confused. He saw a Lexus and a Civic sitting inside the shop and he didnt know where the sound was coming from and was shocked when I told him it was coming from the Lexus... he asked if something was wrong with it.. LOL. I kindly told him no and explained to him that the GS400 has a V8 motor with 300hp. He was shocked lol.

Love my car.
