Whats the highest octane you have used?
I have used 94! I have seen 100 octane but I didn't have a gs then so I didn't get it. However when I went back with my gs they didn't sell it anymore. It was so werid it was at a staion in south jersey. Maybe they had it for boats because it was near the shore. Has anyone ever used 100 octane before in there gs? Has anyone ever tryed to octane boosters mixes?

ive personally tried one of those octane boosters from Pep Boys. When the gs4 had little gas left(gas light was on), i poured in a small amount of the booster. this probably gave a octane of 95 or higher. noticed a bit of difference in performance, more torque at 3500 rpm. After that, i read about all the problems that can occur from running high octane, so no more of that stuff!

104 VP Racing unleaded is the highest unlead octain that I know of. Unless you go leaded. Good thing about racing fuel is that your plugs will be cleaner than with the octain booster sold at the stores. they turn them a copper color and it makes them harder to read.
I used the 104 with NOS and ran 13.30 @ 107mph with 19"wheels.
$4-5.00 per gallon:eek:
Good luck.
PS The only reason I ran 104 was for the NOS and pinging.

Here's a succinct explanation of octane, what it is, what it means, and how it's formulated.

There's no good reason to run higher octane or octane booster unless your car is suffering from detonation. You're just wasting money.
Higher octane does not equal more horsepower - higher octane means the gasoline is less prone to ignition. You will not gain power from using higher octane unless you are first of all losing power through detonation.

All cars suffer(?) from detonation. That's what its called when the spark ignites the gasoline vapor. The term you're looking for is pre-ignition (also loosely called knocking).

Both detonation and preignition are bad, but by preignition is caused mainly by hot spots in the combustion chamber, not by the low octane gasoline.
