Most of you won't remember me coming to this board almost a year ago and lurking around a while, helping out with some detailing questions (I'm a pro detailer) and asking about the finer details of the GS400 and soaking it all in. I have searched a while for a '98-'99 NAV car, pearl white with xenon etc. and finally found one. Paid more than I should have at $30k, but ...I am too picky and too tired of running all over creation to look at them, and the NAV cars in the colors I wanted were next to impossible to find cheap in my area. Plus the seller wasn't going to deal, he said he would rather just keep the car ( we offered 29, and he had another offer just over that, but he didn't flinch), so...he held the cards on this one. It has a clean carfax report and is like brand new save for a very small dent in the A pillar that I'm having fixed. It also has a complete list of paperwork from the Lexus dealer, and all required maintenance. I read some of the deals you guys get and I thought I could do similar, but it didn't happen, but I just look at the car and I don't care. It's worth every penny to me.
I have wanted a GS4 since 1998 when I drooled over them at a Lexus dealership. I almost can't believe it's now in our garage. The car has exceeded my expectations in almost every area, from performance to creature comforts , and I can't pull my wife out of it long enough to take the wheel. The car is smooth as glass to at least 80 MPH, haven't pushed it faster yet, no vibrations to report yet. The only small gripe is the insidious moonroof rattle, I did the search and gleaned some ideas to try, but...if I have to live with it I'll turn up the stereo. The only other area I personally feel lacking is the stereo's Bass, but, I'm also used to a JL sub and JL amp setup in my other car, so it's not a fair comparison. I have to do a search on the NAV cars to see what's do-able aftermarket-wise. I hope I have at least a couple options bass -wise.
I wanted to thank all the posters here for some GREAT information . I would not have been as on top of things with these cars if it weren't for this board. Great car-great people. I'm in your debt.
GS onward, Dan H

Congrats,
I too felt as you did when the 98 GS hit the showrooms. I am finally picking up my 2001 GS430 on Nov 7. 14,400 miles with every available option $39,900.
Lexus has a repair fix for that sunroof on GS models. I think it was a TSB better check with the dealer.
I love Christmas in October.
