Need advice about a GS400....
I found one that comes with HID, 17's, Spoiler, Nakamichi, 58K miles, and its White. So in other words everything that I always wanted. I can also get it for at least $4000 less than at the dealer auctions but the only problem is that both bumpers and one of the rear doors were repainted. Another factor making me lean towards buying it is the fact that because of the money I save, I can then keep my 94 Maxima as I know how bad GS400's can be in the winter. What do you guys think? Also, would I have major difficulty reselling it later?
Thanks in advance.

I think you ought to spend $15 and run the VIN on Carfax as well as ask the local Lexus dealership to run the VIN through their service computer (which will have record of all dealer-performed work). If it's been seriously whacked, you know why it's $4k less and that you probably WOULD have difficulty with later resale. But, bottom line, you need to know more about the history fo this car.

Ofcourse, no local NYC shops report anything at all to Carfax. The only reason I bother with it is to ensure a safe resale later on(So that the person wont see anything on it when they run it).

I thought carfax will only report anything that was witten up on a accident report by a law enforcement officer??
I'm working with the dealer where I purchased my 99 GS300. They are saying if the car has all the stickers with the VIN number on all panels/doors, that is the main concern. Lexus will certify a car that's been totally repainted and no major frame damage. So be very carefull when shopping for used/new vehicles. CPO is a bunch of crap. If I buy another used car from a Dealer, I will have it inspected throughly CPO or not. Make sure the dealer sign a disclosure that no paint work was done on the car. Also remember, every dealer is independently owned. Your worf against theirs , dealer to dealer..
(Moderators) I'm not trying to bash any particular dealer, just don't want someone to be aware.

OK, take car to a body shop you trust, ask 'em what they can tell from looking at the car. (Unless I've misread your intentions for the car and you're into buying/reselling rebuilt wrecks and floods; in that case, you don't need CL.....)
