You mean the insert was cracked not the metal arm itself, correct?

And it's unfortunate that so many 'mechanics' out there speculate with your money and if it turns out that isn't the problem then they will continue to speculate until your tapped out..

What year model was your car and what is your suspension set up?
I was lucky in that I didn't change my ball joints until 150k on a 98 GS. My setup is on Eibach springs, though so I am barely lowered.

I don't know why we don't have a balljoints warning sticky here in the 2GS section...

That sucks. I just replaced my LBJs and tie rod ends on both sides. And the wheel hub and bearing on the passenger side. The car rides a lot better

Are there any symptoms for the going bad? I know on the hondas its makes a sqweeking metal to metal grinding noise when u turn or hit a bump. Im just curious because my steering on my gs is perfect with no play and doesn't makes any noises. My friend who is a lexus tech said im fine. Did u have any symptoms before yours went?

Yes. the inserted/molded rubber was more then half way tearing apart on both sides. Seriously, If you look at the caster arm, the way it was designed to have back and forward movement and limited to left and right. And it is the back and forward movement that is shearing these rubber. Also noticed when the car is on a lift. I really don't like the way the caster bending the rubber when it is on the air. Anyway, I think this is reason why the aftermarket Polyholy Urethane filled in the gap. As for the money wise, even the local garage charge you an arm and a leg just because you're driving in a Lexus. I am postpone installing my PSB/ADUS caster arm pushing, cause around my area they want charge around $300 bucks for the job. Ouch
