Default 20" rims with 30, 35, or maybe even 40!!

Hello everyone. I have some 20" rims that have been sitting in my garage forever now and I finally have a car that I think they will look nice on (2003 GS300), but I learned my lesson last time when I was rolling around on tires that were WAY too thin. The rims are 7.5" wide (225) and 20" in diameter. Does anyone know the biggest size tire I can put on these bad boys without rubbing? I have no mods at all and don't plan on getting any (other than these rims and possibly some new speakers).

While you are picking at that question, can someone also tell me whether or not those 7.5" in rims will have enough stability or will the ride feel better with a rim that is a little wider? Just weighing all of my options here before I make any moves... Thanks

depends on the tire i was rubbing with 35's in the front with one brand when i wasnt with another...

Falkens have a pretty round side wall so they rub less....good luck with anything bigger than 35 if that....

are they 7.5" all around? IF SO, sell em and do it right. People run 10-11" Rears easily.

7.5 wide??? My honda's 15's are wider than that!!! IMO that thin of a rim is going to look goofy, like a watermelon being held up with 4 toothpicks!

Don't spend your money on rims to get you by for the time. Take a look at cars on the site and figure out what look you want and how you will be driving your car.

I've had around 6 sets of rims, but I change what I want on my car often so that's just the route I'm looking for.

First thing, don't go with anything less than 8 inches all around. IF you run a 7 or 7.5" rim you will set off your speed sensor/abs triggers/vsc. Ask me how I know.

Stock GS's come with 8 inch wide and I'm thinking on the 16's they are 7.5" ?

I'm going to be running a 35 profile all around and a 235 on a 9.5f and a 255 on a 10.5 rear.
