Default How much is that speaker in the window, woof woof

I was just wondering if I can fit a ten inch subwoofer right in the slot that that OEM speaker in the rear window now sits in. What size is that speaker and just your opinion; are the stock speakers good enough that I won't need to replace them?? Thanks for any info in advance

It's a 10 and sits on it's own plate. u would still need some customization on it as your new 10 will kick much harder and probably interfere with the cover. It's also free air speaker.

I have a 15" free air... I don't know how to put that ish there. thhinking......

I never took apart my 98, but my 02 with ML the mounting plate was PART of the sub, so when I replaced it with an aftermarket, I destroyed the old sub by cutitng it out to re-use the mounting plate. It was blown anyway..

It took a few hours but it fit nice and clean and now looks really slick. You'd think it was OEM if the speaker was black instead of white. I installed the JL Type R free air marine sub (SWR-M100), if anyone was curious. Unfortunately I don't have any review for it yet as it's not hooked up, waiting until I get the amp installed for it.

I have speakers laying around my house that are not being used and are the perfect size but how do I know if they are "free air"?

I have that bracket. I'm currently using an aftermarket 10" on it... a freakn heavy sub is attached to it... I want to switch out to a 15" light weight free air version. It'll be a while till I act on it though. I might not even go that route since it shakes so bad (even with heavy deadening).

after doing the audio hack, the stock system isn't that bad, IMO.
