So i was driving and the radio just shut off (not the battery or alternator) and it was acting like it was gonna shut off so i pulled over and turned it off.. it was smoking but it was a electrical burn smell/smoke.. the car wouldnt turn over it just clicked and sometimes it would turnover but VERY slowly VERY VERY slowly (like i could hand turn it faster) so i thought maybe it was the starter that shorted out and blew some fuses but as i was removing the starter this fell out (see pics) i dont know where it fell from or what it is but it does have that really bad electrical burn smell to it.

Looks like the valet button on a Viper alarm (or probably other alarm systems as well). It's missing the button obviously...

that's my guess lol.. but then again that wouldn't be by your starter -_-

GS4 right? I just rebuilt my starter a few weeks ago and found the same thing. It belongs on the cylinder part of the starter body...you'll see a hole there on the body of the starter. The flange part with the prongs are supposed to clip into the hole. My clips were broken, so I had to glue it. I don't know what the piece is for, maybe someone else can help out.

Oh ok so it is part of the starter.. i was hoping it wasn't something else and i just misdiagnosed the problem.. Thanks
