Red Coolant or Green Folks?
I bought my 2001 GS300 about four months ago. I just did the timing belt and the water pump recently. The mechanic whose was working on my car noticed that the coolant in the system is Green. The coolant container I bought from Lexus of Westminster is RED. Should I flush the green out and pour the red in folks?

the green coolant is the generic crap from the auto parts stores. It has a lot of additives to make it compatible with every car and so to stop small leaks. It's best to flush it out and put the OEM toyota coolant in there. The only time when you should stick with the green stuff is if the car is old with a lot of miles and drying hoses so if a tiny leak starts it won't get out of control.

Green or red, but do not mix them.
Toyota red is made to last a long time, 6+ years, a lot longer than the green...
I use 'prestone' green and flush every two years. It's cheaper.
If you go with red, Toyota sells 2 kinds, full strength and 50/50 mix.
Make sure you buy what you intend.

Flush it out and go red. When I bought my car the coolant was orange/brown meaning someone had mixed green with the red (idiots). I had to flush the damn thing three times to make sure the system had nothing but red in it.
