LOL. No, you are talking about German Castrol which is green oil, but it's very rare to find. He is talking about the "dipstick" oil.

I use Mobile 1 synthetic 5W30. I change my oil every 8-10k miles. I normally drive slow, but I'm known to drop the throttle on the freeway every now and then.

The recycled oils are just as good as the non-recycled variety. If you do an oil analysis, you won't be able to tell the difference and your engine can't either. Same for G-oil, which you can occasionally find for free after rebate. The quality difference is all in your head, which, IMHO, peace of mind is important when it comes to your engine, so I get the hesitation people have to adopt this recycled oil.

Mobil 1 tends to be more expensive than it's counter parts, even when those counterparts have similar or better additive packs and base oils. I've been using Valvoline for years, but lately I've been disappointed with them. Their TBN in oil analysis has been low, meaning this oil is not well-suited for extended oil runs, and even on normal oil runs (7,500 miles is the normal oil change interval for the 2GS) the TBN is completely shot. I've switched to Pennzoil Platinum and had better results. The Pennzoils are kicking butt lately on the motor oil forums, so is Quaker State. Little surprise they are both made by the same company, Shell Oils Products U.S. (SOPUS). Remember, it's not just oil that you have to look at, finding a decent filter is important too.

amsoil 5-30 signature series with amsoil filter. i change my oil every 25000 miles. been doing this for years, first on an avalon, since new, with 250,000 miles only changed the oil 10 times. Now i am doing it on my gs400. Started by using amsoil and changing every 5000 for 3 changes now i will go 25000 on this change. If you get nervous about the whole 25000 thing, then you can go 15000 and it is still cheaper than using mobile one. Total cost for oil and filter is 66.30 if you pay the 30, well i think it is 30, dollar fee to become a "distributor" to get the "wholesale" price. 10 bucks at the local oil change place if you bring your own stuff. At the local oil change place i go to they are also very interested in how it works, so they sent oil samples off to be analyzed on my 5000 mile changes and the results came back like new oil ........i use their automatic transmission fluid, 2 stoke oil, motorcycle oil, engine flush, power foam (cleans upper engine intake, injectors, valves, ect.), oil filters, and going to use their diff oil next time i change it. i have also used their octane booster, and omg what a difference. I pickup my stuff myself to save shipping, i brought back a case of oil and filter for the guy who owns the oil change place, he is going to start using it in his car.

Damm i should sell this *****

lol
