Get a side hustle (a legit one) for some extra paper strictly for car mods.

Or, here's some insight from a female..... This is playing a little dirty, but if she likes shoes, purses, getting her hair and nails done use that to your advantage. Explain that you enjoy accessorizing your car like she enjoys doing the things she spends extra money on and there shouldn't be anything wrong with spending a little extra on yourself as she does herself.

P.S.

Just like how i don't bust her chops for when she buys her handbags, shoes and other womanly things, she don't get on my case for money spent on MY car. But in the end it all depends on your situation.

Just make more money. I can relate to you, I used to be a geek squad myself back in 2004. Same time when my son was born, newly married and I bought my first Lexus. Here's what I did. I got better education, then in turn I got a better paying job. Pay all your bills, become debt free, have 6-8 months worth of savings, have some investments (like a 457 for your kid). Once you're financially secure, I'm sure your gf will have no problem with you having an expensive hobby. Unfortunately it will take time for your gf to buy in the idea at first. Been there myself. Good luck!

My wife drove mine a few times before the motor swap and she said she didn't like driving it because it was too big.. Now we all know the GS is not that big compared to tons of way larger sedans out there, but oh well.

But now she can barely even push the clutch in, it ain't like her current XB and her previous honda's with butter clutches that feel like it's not connected to anything. She is great at driving a stick but I doubt she would even get out of the driveway without either stalling 20 times or just doing a burnout right into the ditch.

She is scared of the car now after the build, so I have no worries of her wanting to drive it. Now if I come home in the middle of the night she is just glad I'm alive and stopped caring about where I have been..

Give her the same amount of $ you want to spend on the car to spend on what she wants, AFTER the bills are paid and the munchkin is taken care of. She will never complain again.

Family first. I have 4 kids and my wife and I have been married 20+ years.
