Default Tilt motor rebuild

Ok so lets start by saying this is my first post and I have done my searching and cant find anything directly related to what I'm looking for.

my tilt function on my 2001 gs430 isn't working anymore.

I have opened up the column and found the motor and when I tap it the tilt works again but only for a short while.

so my thinking is I need a new motor and from what I understand you cant buy them separate from the column.

so my question is has anyone ever taken there motor and had it rebuilt or done it them self?

Start taking it apart and cleaning it out and grease everything up again.

I think that's what I'm going to have to do, I just wanted to get some advise from people who have done it before.
not sure if you can have these motors rebuilt?

ok so just an update, I took apart the motor (2 Phillips screws on either side of the motor) and found the brushes were really worn, as well as there being a tone of gunk in there I'm assuming from the worn brushes.

so I went to a local electronic parts place and got some new ones, they needed to be sanded down a bit to fit but it worked well in the end.

I wish I had of thought to take pix at the time.

it made a huge difference int he speed of the tilt.

I would give it a 7 on a scale of 10, shouldn't be to bad if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.

it was just a local surplus electronic store, I did think about radio shack but there's none left in my area.
