Default need advice

Hi guys i have an issue with my car. I have a 98 gs400 ive been having a problem with it for about a week. Everytime i start the car and put in on gear and tey to take off it slow to grab the gear. I accelarate and ofcourse my rpms go high but the car doesnt go it moves slowly than all of a sudden itll grab the gear and take off. When my var gets warm itll work fine. Itll grab first gear good and evwrything. It only does this whem my car is cold. What do you guys think this is. Ive already done a tranny oil change 4 months ago.

well , check transmission fluid level, may be low or leaking. Check the dip stick if it takes T4 fluid ,

OP stated he did tranny flush 4months ago. Make sure its the right oil, make sure it isnt low, if it recently started this issue, it can possibly be transmission going out. Definitely have a prop check it out before you further the damage from simple to major.

check fluid level when the is warmed up in drive on level ground to get the best reading. Also make sure the transmission fluid is not burnt could mean worn clutches in the tranny.

I had the exact same issue a few months back. I took it in and had a complete tranny flush and service. LOL whay does that sound so bad.... anyways, I had a good chat with the owner and he told me something quiet crazy. He said that if you tranny is in the beginning stages of going out and you change with fresh fluid. It might make it worse. He said that transmission fluid "as we all know" is very harsh and has certain detergent agents in it that can actually mess thing up worse on a transmission that is starting to go out. So I took a risk and had him perform the flush and service and so far it has not gotten any better, or any worse. Odds are, your tranny is either really low on fluid, or its going out. I'd do the service and try it out. Worst case...you have to have it replaced. I found a few on craigslist for under $400. good luck bud!

sounds like cheap/wrong fluid. i had a transmission seal go out and had to have a shop replace it, i was out of town. they put in some crap, so i had it changed/flushed with synthetic and shazzzam, everything is fine now.

Let me throw out another possibility, because your problem sounds exactly like mine.

How old is the battery? That's right, I said battery... Have a look here, especially my last post on that thread. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ml#post7094953

About 70000 miles ago I had the same problem and I had recently done a drain and refill at home myself. I took it in to get it checked out and they warned me of what might happen if they did a flush but it was either that or change out the tranny. I let them flush it and he laughed and told me I had the wrong fluid in there. I took him the container that I had purchased from Toyota and It was the correct fluid. He couldn't explain why but said it looked like really thin motor oil when they drained it. So now 70000 miles later it still works fine especially for having 200k.
