Default Tire fitment

Just ordered some 17x8 wheels for my 99 gs400 and Im looking at tires.

I was thinking of getting 255's in the rear and 225's or 235's in the front.

Will I have problems putting 255's on an 8in rim, from what I have seen on search it seems to be ok

Well seeing that the OEM 17" wheels are 17x8 and come with 235/45R17 I highly suggest going that route. They sit perfectly square on the rims. A 255/40R17 will still technically fit on a 17x8 however the tire will buldge out the sides causing worse performance, handling and steering response. If you really wanna use 255 all the way around I recommend getting 9" wide rims. Not to mention staggering tires on non staggered rims will just look weird
