Default JDM Double Din.. how does this work??

I finally got mine after waiting 3 months!! I ordered just the faceplate since I was told I can re-use the side mounting brackets off my stock radio... Well here it is:

Now I'm not really sure, but how does this hook up to the mounting brackets? I'm not sure how to use these metal push clips to secure it to anything...

To other JDM DD guys.. how did you guys do it?

around the same price as Carson, based on old threads by searching.

I just install a pioneer double din in my car a few weeks ago and used the whole kit from carson. It was as bolt in perfect as it gets, the metal brackets that are for the jdm dd kit have alignment nipples that locate standard dd's perfectly and they also have the square holes that hold that faceplate on.

You could likely be able to use the existing brackets to hold the deck in place by drilling some holes but there is nothing there to hold the faceplate that you have.

It was $48 for just the faceplate from Nigel. I think Carson was $60 but included the brackets. I went by searches on here and saw multiple threads that indicated that the brackets were the same and you could re-use your OEM ones. I went to go look at the brackets this morning and they're a good 2-3 inches inset from the front of the radio. There's no way they would ever come close to working with it. The Search function actually let me down this time!@$%$!!

I'm not going to wait another 3 months for just the brackets, maybe I'll just sell it then, could be of use to someone else.

Yes you would need the brackets. Who you buy it from and who told you face plate only is all you need?

well... you can rig it and get by with using your stock brackets but the face plate will just rest there without being secure.

i was a victim of a forum vendor a few years back and he claimed i didn't know how to install it. little does he know how the face plate actually works.

I wished I seen this post earlier. I recently ordered a "kit" through our vendor Nigel and all I got was the faceplate. Wished his site was more clear and stated that it was a bezel only instead lf listing it as "kit". Now I have to pay return postage. This should be stickied!!

Instead of paying for return postage why not put that money towards the brackets?
