send me your email and i will send you a copy of the toyota service manual. i would start with checking your timing belt install. one tooth off and it runs like crap, 2 teeth it backfires any more than that and you have bent valves.

my email is jkmfab@yahoo.com, we are getting ready to flow check the injectors and fuel rail. i can make the car run by using a power probe and energizing the vvti solenoid. it runs like crap but it does run. got a few codes after running it a while, and found alot of shorted wires. rebuilt whole harness. Still i have millivolts coming out of the pcm to the vvti solenoid, if i plug the solenoid up it goes to 0 v. The solenoid is good and not shorted. I think the millivolts are residual voltage. Everything on the pcm is working properly except that one circuit.

So the problem is the vvt actuator as i suspected.

a little bit of an update for yall. We originally had to change the crank sprocket due to it haveing broken teeth. So we didnt think that could be happening again. I did have a wiring problem with the camshaft position sensor circuit. I fixed it and stil crank and die. So i pulled a spark plug. Before we were very lean. Now the plugs are sooted up from richness. So i went back to recheck timing and lo and behold, found one broken tooth on the new crank sprocket. The wiring harness on the #1 coil was getting very hot during cranking and come to figure out that the ecm was firing #1 twice every revolution due to the broken tooth being broken off flush. It thought #1 was up twice. Ordered another pulley gonna try it again in morning

ok got it running great. the new crank sprocket brok one tooth off, the knock sensor wiring harness had a short, and the camshaft position sensor harness had a short. Runs perfect now.
