I personally think my toyota echo I had previously had a much better sound system that the 04 LEXUS GS 430 that I have now. I put it so the sound goes up to the middle and its not impressive. But If i put it more in the front, I hear the base good. So I experimented and and put the sound to come out from the back speakers, and its horrible. The speakers in the back have no base at all compared to the front. And there not loud. I should have equal speakers front and back.

Why would lexus cheap out and give all the good speakers to the front and not the back? This is a big thumbs down when a cheap gas sipper outrides a echo on sound.

Did the previous owner remove the speakers? There should be a sub in the rear deck. If not, the previous owner may have had an after market system that he kept upon trading it in.

Sub is probably removed. Or it has mark levinson which usually have a bad rep for sound.

I agree with you that the GS has the worst sound ever, the back however should have a sub.

heck, my moms camry has jbl speakers stock.

I'm not disappointed with the quality that I have. Plenty of bass for me and my jams with the sub and all.

yeah it wasnt the greatest stock sound of all time... Audio is quite important to me in a car like the GS so I went quite all out to say the least.. now mine has some boom, and then some.. lol that would be an understatement!

OP were you ever planning to upgrade sound regardless of this incidents outcome ?

I dont know. I would have thought because it is the sports edition that a proper surround system be in the car. Im CHOKED that the creepers may have taken out the sub. I have the stats on the car. I got them faxed to me from lexus. But my car has different specs than what is listed. So I guess Im just hooped and have to have it put back in, with the cost of install and the sub itself.

If it was even there in the FIRST place.

yeah i agree. my subs sucks too. i sit in other cars and their factory speakers has more base than my subs. this is a shame. lol
why don't you pup the trunk and look to see if the sub is still there?

u didnt think to check? haha simply o opening the trunk woulda verified that. hopefully u didnt buy a stolen car.

I havent looked but Im sure its not there. I put groceries in the back all the time. Lots of room. If a sub is there its not hooked up and its invisible.

Specs are different. I have the sports edition. The limited ones they made. (aluminum trim etc) That doesnt show. I never looked to see if it listed a sub though. Probably does. I was to busy looking at the outside and knowing the price I was getting it for to check for a sub. : (

you realize the stock OEM sub is mounted up top right?

IIRC, limited edition was pre 2000, post 2000 its SD dont quote me tho
