How come my heated seats aren't that hot. I mean I know not just my GS because my friends is the same! Is there any way to turn them up?

The seat heaters in every Lexus i've been in suck. In the LX470, they don't get so hot. In my opinion, Mercedes's seat heaters are by far the best. Could it have to do with a fuse or something that needs to be a higher rating, or is it just that the seat heaters suck???????????? Atleast the LX470 has a high/low setting.

The seat heaters do work in any temperature. I do admit that they do not get as hot as most cars. That can be good and can be bad. I work for a company that had a seat that actually got too hot and burned people. Lexus would not want that. The heater module is set to reach a certain temperature and stay at that temperature. It can not be adjusted unless you are an electronic genius and can get into that module and reprogram it.
Hope it helps.

off topic but, do you think that the heat generated by seat heaters cause premature drying and cracking of the leather? is more frequent conditioning required if you use the heaters often?

The heaters in my dad's 98 LS have always seemed fine. Seemed to heat up just fine in the myriad of ESes i've driven too, never tried them on either of the GSs I drove.
Ya know whats scary? My mother has a VW New Beetle and it has the best seat heaters I've ever seen, 5 settings
AT- I don't think so really, it would seem to me that UV exposure is a bigger part of the leather drying than heat is. I wouldn't be concerned. My dad's LS has 120k on it and he uses the seat heaters even in the summer.

The seat heaters on my GS400 only work when the outside temperature is below 70ish. I was just getting ready to take the car to the dealer and have the seats checked, when it started to cool off outside and suddenly the seats worked. Didn't try them today, but last week Atlanta was certainly cold enough for them to work.
