Automatic haha. If it wasn't evident, this is a faux manual conversion. I.E just the shift boot has been installed. Everything else is still very auto.
Yeah, weird. Must have been a factory error.
It's an Erisin ES778A. Very impressive head unit. It runs android 2.3 on its detachable faceplate as well as a few little extras included in the box (Digital TV,DVD,Bluetooth,SD card, GPS, 3G usb modem etc.)
To buy anything close to this in terms of features would cost >$1500 from retail stores in Australia.
I got this online from the manufacturer for around $400 delivered i think. It's a Chinese import but the quality is just as good and considering the features, hard to pass up. It's a freaking android head unit haha
Here's where i got it from: http://www.erisin.com/erisin-es778a-...-pad_p278.html

That was the issue i was having. Try and thin the material as much as possible by stretching it over the base of the shifter toward the bottom. I then had to use a bit of force and jiggle the bezel around a bit for it to stay somewhat in place. Won't be perfect though, just keep trying.
