Default Inner Tail Light Install

I was just wondering how difficult it would be to install new Inner Tail Lights. It looks like I just have to take off the fabric in the trunk then pop the old ones out and install the new ones.

Any tricks or advice? My left inner is starting to fade so I'm looking forward to replacing it.

yeah its basically what u said.

the little screws attached to the lining is a PITA to remove.

what i did was get a string and stick it through and pull it out (screwdriver didnt work)

make sure not to rip your lining!

Idk if u notice, there's a velcro patch where the two inner lights are so u won't have to take the carpet frabric off... Anyways, there will be two nut holding the lights in. Take those off and just pop the lights out.

yeep, 2 bolts behind the velcro patches. i believe the nuts are 8mm. if not, then theyre 10mm! if you have a hard time taking it off, lightly tap on the 2 bolts till they pop off.

I started from the arms of the trunk and started to pull quickly for each plastic screw and worked my way up.The hard part was the trunk latch plastic shell. I popped it open then continued to pull the trunk lining.

I got it. There were indeed velcro patches. The 2 bolts were 10mm. They were easy to get to with an extention on a ratchet. After I took the bolts off and twisted the bulb out (counter clockwise), I pushed the light assembly out with a pencil.

Next question... How do I replace the license plate bulbs?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the 2001+ inner tails are actually different than the 98-2000. I knew the outers were different but had no clue about the inners. This makes me feel more confident about fading issues.

as for the plates, u will have to take the carpet off lol, if i had known u was going to do the plates too, i would have told u to just take off the carpet haha. Once u take off the carpet, u will see the harness to the plates..

Zip ties, yarn, fishing line, speaker wire, thin flat head, shishkabob skewer, paper clip, rubber band, dental floss, shoe lace, dog tags (military not pet), twist ties, a fork, pliers, tweezers....

Dont forget to take off the trunk handle before u remove the liner.

Here is how the tails turned out. A lot better than the old faded ones.

I may work on my license plate bulb tonight.
