Default Remove Intake Manifold to Change Valve Cover Gasket??

I need to replace the valve cover gasket on my 1998 GS300. I’ve changed the plugs several times and know how to get it apart to that point but that leaves the intake manifold. If I recall, this has to come off and I’m looking for any assistance on how to do that. It looks like the manifold has two pieces to it. Can I separate them and get the cover off without removing the lower part of the intake from the engine? Are there any special tools required and is there more stuff that has to be removed that I can see? Thanks.
