same thing happened to me. check the fuse for ur ABS, its behind the E-brake pedal, in the panel in the corner. replace the fuse, and the problem should be fixed. it took like 2 weeks for me to figure that out.

here are the most common causes:

1. blown fuse (where the previous guy said)

2. bad brake light pedal sensor (right behind the brake pedal)

3. shift lock ecu (sits on the transmission, you probably need a mechanic to replace it)

In my case it was the ecu, think it cost $140 to get it replaced.

you should get it fixed because you don't want to be grabbing for a pencil if you need reverse to avoid a wreck or something.

alright guys, i checked the fuses and theyre all okay.. cant find the brake light sensor but when i press the brakes, the lights do come on.. are the ecu and the shift lock the only culprits? orrr could it also be something else..

I don't think they're any other common causes. You'll need to bring it to a mechanic or you can check it with an ohmmeter if you can get to it. The service manual on here tells you what resistances the terminals should be.
