Default Brakes a little squishy

Question for you fellas. I very new to the game of being a Lexus owner and just purchased a 98 GS400, has few miles on it @ 200k but I got it for a really good deal 3k. So the question I have is that, When hitting the brakes at any speed, they feel squishy. The car stops but the pedal feel is a little off. I checked the brake pads and they still have life in them and i'm not leaking any brake fluid anywhere. Is this a known feature of this car? Do I need to go with stainless steel brake lines? Any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance!!!

The brakes definitely aren't as touchy or firm as other cars I have driven. Having said that, i have driven some GS's that felt very good for OEM. But in general, they're pretty squishy. SS brake lines would help for sure, a lot of people here go BBK or drop in LS400 or Supra TT calipers. I went with Supra TT..

edit: i think this is the first time I replied before someone saying "omg just search you lazy hack" But uh yeah.. search the forum, it'll save you a lot of time vs waiting for a real response that isn't "just search dammit"

I had a similar problem when I purchased my GS. Replaced brake lines with stainless steel lines and found it to be better but still not great. What I ultimately discovered was that when the dealer from whom I bought the car replaced the rear brakes he neglected to put back all the hardware. The clips found in this post were missing: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...-clips-on.html . I installed these clips and problem solved.

Make sure the caliper guide pins are lubricated.
A stuck guide pin will make the brakes feel weird.

Ever thought about having air in your system? Try bleeding your brakes
