Explosion Body Kit
Hello:
I am very sedriously thinking about buying the fiberglass Explosion Kit ( front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, 3 pice rear spoiler).
Anyone with this kit please tell me your experiences.
I can get a really good deal on it for around $500.
How is the fitment?
How much are the new fogs that I need to get?
Is the fiberglass good and does it last?
How practical is it?
How low is it?
If I have the Eibach springs and Bilsteins will this work
OK? I was told that b/c the fiberglass is light that you really need stiff springs or else when you git a bump or something that it really bounces.
Any and all experiences will be greatly appreciated.
Also please post pics.
Thanks much.

ok the kit on ebay that you are referring to is kinda sketchy... I have called them many times and they can not answer the coorect questions... They claim they have no clue what the fitment and modificatio0ns needed are... They companies name is procarparts. If i were you, I would get the real kit, not this fake imitation kit. I dont trust it or them. I mean they couldnt answer a few simple questions

considering i'm new around here, i haven't done much research into the kits and available materials. i do know (in looking at kits for my car) that in general you want to go with urethane rather than fiberglass. urethane is more durable, less likely to crack, easier to install (more flexible) and will last longer.

on any jdm kits, real or copies, made of FRP(fiberglass layers), you need an experienced shop to do the paint and install...the kit on ebay is nice material, esp for the price...
the fogs are ~$250, depends on which one you choose

Real explosion kit costs way over 3k so I would say the few hundred dollar kits on Ebay are knock-offs. However some members here on ClubLexus have that kit and said the quality and fitment is still very nice.
The COST for high-quality fiberglass kits is about 500~600 at least(front sides rear). Low-quality fiberglass kits COST about 300~400 to make.

Answers to all your questions:
1. The fitment could be better, but hey you are paying 500, can't really complain. As Will said, make sure you goto a body shop that knows what they are doing.
2. Foglights: PIAA 510 works. There are other such as CATZ MSC. For PIAA www.adventon.com has them for pretty cheap. Can be hooked to existing fog light switch so no extra wiring is needed.
3. How practical? I think that is subjective. It isn't all ricer looking and have huge side skirts etc.
4. How Low? If you are running Eibach and Bilstein with a 1.2 inch drop, you should have no problem what so ever. You still have to take bumps and driveways slow, but you should be ok. You can drop as low as 2.5 inch and be ok still.
Hope that helps.

I heard that with the PIAA and other fogs that I need a relay or it will knock out my internal lights. How do I hook this stuff up to my existing fog switch.
Does anyone know if I can get yellow fogs to fit this kit? If so where can I get them?
Can I also get a small hole cut in the front bumper (on the sides) for my clear corners?
McGong: I will send you a pm with some more questions. Thanks for all the helpful feedback.
I got the kit for $435 and $110 shipping. $250 for fogs and then install cost is not that bad.
How much is paint and install for this kit? I have a black Lex.
Peace,
Ted

You dont need a relay to hook up PIAA lights to the stock setup. I thought you did at first too, but I tried it again and I have been running that way for some weeks now and it hasn't blown yet. The PIAA 510 ION Fogs shine yellow. Here is a pic.
